Who we are
About Deco Hardwood Floor
Deco Hardwood Floor is an owner operated flooring contractor based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, registered in the state since 2012. The company sands, refinishes, installs and repairs wood floors and builds custom stairs and railings for homeowners within 50 miles of Philadelphia, across Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey and northern Delaware.

How Deco Hardwood Floor started
It started in the 2008 crash, when the concrete work stopped and a friend in the flooring trade offered a way in.
It started in concrete. The 2008 crash took that work with it, and a friend in the flooring trade offered to teach it for free. Learning it meant staying close to home, which mattered at the time with kids in the house. A van came next, and the concrete work never came back.
The owner has been in the flooring trade since 2008, and Deco Hardwood Floor has been a registered Pennsylvania business since 2012. Those are two different numbers and we keep them separate, because the years belong to a person and the registration belongs to the company.
- 2008
The owner enters the flooring trade, after the crash stops the concrete work.
- 2012
Deco Hardwood Floor is registered as a Pennsylvania business.
- Today
A crew of 5, and more than 2,000 floors sanded, installed and rebuilt, by the owner's own count.
What Deco Hardwood Floor does
Wood floors and stairs, with the material supplied at distributor price so it lands in one number with the labor.
Sanding and refinishing, installation of solid, engineered and vinyl plank, repair, and custom stair and railing work. The stairs are what we are known for, and they are the part most flooring crews subcontract or decline.
We buy direct from the distributor and pass the store price through, which means you are not sourcing wood on your own between quotes. Samples and larger offcuts come to your house so you are choosing in your own light instead of under a showroom lamp.
- Sanding & Refinishing: Bringing an existing wood floor back without pulling it out.
- Floor Installation: New floor, material included, from a distributor price.
- Stairs & Railings: The part of the house everyone touches and nobody plans for.
- Repair & Restoration: Fixing the part that failed without replacing the part that did not.
- Flooring Materials: What we carry, what it costs to live with, and which one belongs in your room.
Who you deal with
Every job is quoted by the owner, who is one of the five people on the crew.
There is no salesperson between you and the person who will be responsible for the work. That is a real constraint on how much we can take on at once, and it is also the reason the answers you get on the phone are the answers that hold.
Not the retail chain
Deco Hardwood Floor is an independent, owner operated flooring contractor based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It is not affiliated with, and should not be confused with, Floor & Decor Holdings, Inc., the national flooring retail chain.
What we will not tell you
That a sanding job leaves no dust, that a floor can be refinished before we have measured it, or that a price is firm before we have seen the room.
Those three claims are the most common ones in this trade and all three cause the same argument later. Vacuum extraction catches most of the dust and not all of it. Remaining thickness decides whether a floor can be sanded, and it is measured at the edge of a board. And what is under the covering changes the job often enough that quoting blind is guessing.
Where Deco Hardwood Floor works
Within 50 miles of Philadelphia, across Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey and northern Delaware.
That radius takes in 505 towns and 132 Philadelphia neighborhoods. Each one has its own page, with the age of the housing there taken from the US Census Bureau, because the age of the house decides what is under the floor. The full list is on the service area index, and the figures behind it are published as open housing data.

Why homeowners hire Deco Hardwood Floor
Deco Hardwood Floor is owner operated: the person who quotes your floor is the person responsible for it, and the material comes with the labor in one number.
Material and labor in one number
We buy the flooring direct from the distributor and pass the store price through, so you are not sourcing wood on your own between quotes.
Samples come to your house
Samples and larger offcuts come to you, so the color gets chosen in your own light instead of under a showroom lamp.
Stairs and railings built in house
Treads, risers, handrails and newel posts are drawn and built by our own crew. Most flooring crews subcontract stair work or decline it.
The owner quotes the job
The person who measures your floor is the person responsible for the work. There is no salesperson in between.
Measured before it is promised
Remaining thickness is measured at the edge of a board before we say a floor can be sanded, and no price is firm before we have seen the room.
Told straight, including the limits
Vacuum extraction catches most of the sanding dust and not all of it. We tell you that before the job instead of after.
More about who we are and what we will not claim on the About Deco Hardwood Floor page.
Send a photo and we will tell you what you are looking at
Wood floor work across the Philadelphia region starts with someone reading the house. We quote every job ourselves, with no salesperson in between, and a photo of the floor gets you a straight answer faster than a form does.
